Fire Relief Resources and Benefit Events

In January 2026, a fire destroyed seven locally owned businesses in downtown Arcata. Here’s how to support recovery, and where affected business owners can find help.

A coordinated community response

The fire resulted in the loss of storefronts, inventory, equipment, and livelihoods for seven locally owned businesses, and displaced their workers.

The Arcata Chamber of Commerce is working with Humboldt Made, the City of Arcata, the Humboldt Lodging Alliance, Pay It Forward Humboldt, and the North Coast Small Business Development Center (SBDC), along with other regional partners, to provide coordinated resources, clear communication, and community-driven solutions for recovery, stabilization, and long-term rebuilding.

To make it easier for the community to help, the Chamber keeps a list of vetted funding and donation sites, so donors can confidently support legitimate relief efforts.
